Former Stuart Robinson students meet at car show
      William "Dee-Dee" Stamper, son Jr. and grandbaby, all of Michigan, spent more than a week visiting with Arnetta Mae Slone. They had other family and kinfolk stop in to visit and play cards with them at Mae's while they were here. Dee-Dee always enjoys his Kentucky visits and they enjoy having him.

Blood drive set
      A blood drive will be held from 1 to 4 p.m., August 22, at Jenkins Community Hospital. The drive is co-sponsored by the Central Kentucky Blood Center. Comas Hammonds buried in Alabama
      Funeral services for Comas Wilbert Hammonds, 68, were held July 12 in Fayette, Ala. Burial was in the Boone Cemetery. A son of the late William Joseph and Cordelia Cuzzart Hammonds and a longtime resident of Millstone, he died July 10. He was a brother of the late Mazel Hammonds, Katheleen Hammonds, and Billy Hammonds.

      Pfc. Fred M. Holbrook III turned 22 years old July 25. He is stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, with his wife, Debra Adams Holbrook, and son Gabe. He will deploy to Iraq in September with the 601st ABS 1st Infantry Division. Holbrook is the son of Fred and Lynn Holbrook of Mayking, and has two sisters, Brandy Holbrook of Whitesburg, and Montana Jensen of Mayking.

      I learned long ago that the best way unstop a clogged-up kitchen sink does not involve a commode plunger. I have resorted to such means in fits of desperation a few times and later found myself at Bluegrass Hardware purchasing new pipes and traps and such because it doesn't take much pressure to demolish the plumbing under a kitchen sink.

      Baylee Nicole Hatton, the four-year-old daughter of Jim and Wendy Hatton of Richmond, has returned from the International Modeling & Talent Association (IMTA) convention in New York City. Baylee is a model at Images Model and Talent Agency in Lexington, and was chosen to compete in the IMTA.

The Baby pageant is open to ages from birth to four years old. The Master, Wee Miss, Tiny Miss and Little Miss pageants are for children ages four to 12 years old.

      Whitesburg attorney and Mountain Comprehensive Health Corp. CEO L.M. "Mike" Caudill was using the title of a popular Hollywood movie on Monday to describe his adventures while riding trails on an ATV the day before. Caudill said he and a friend were four-wheeling on a road leading to a gas well in the Kingscreek/Linefork area when they happened upon the rattlesnake above.

      My husband, Lee Roy, and I went to the Sapphire Coal Company picnic on Saturday at Isom. They gave away a new Harley motorcycle and Craig Abbinanti, my great-niece Ava Golden's dad of Carcassonne, won it. I think he was shocked for awhile. He said he just couldn't believe it. It is a gorgeous bike and I'm very happy for him.
