Four accused of charging hundreds of dollars in fuel on company's credit card
      Three men and one woman have been charged with fraudulently using a credit card to buy hundreds of dollar' worth of diesel fuel in the name of a Letcher County laboratory which specializes in coal sampling. One of the four, 24-year-old Jesse Grover Burke Jr.

      A Hindman woman was airlifted to a Kingsport, Tenn., hospital for treatment of injuries she suffered Monday morning in a one-vehicle accident on the Whitesburg bypass.

Military deaths at 3,691 in Iraq
      As of Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at least 3,691 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. The figure includes seven military civilians. At least 3,030 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's numbers.

Blood Center has shortage
      Officials at the Kentucky Blood Center in Lexington, a nonprofit organization serving 62 Kentucky counties, report that the blood supply at the center has reached emergency status. Hospitals have enough blood to meet current patients needs, but supplies at the blood center have dwindled and will worsen without a rise in blood donations.

      HUNTINGTON, Utah With the drilling of another hole, the search for six missing miners moved Tuesday toward the back of a mine where officials hoped the men sought refuge in search of an air pocket.
