Latest Kentucky state news from The Associated Press:

Cops say man had fake bills

Police officers, including agents with the U.S. Secret Service, have arrested a Colson man and charged him with passing off counterfeit $5 bills.

Randy D. Cook, 20, of 103 Ragweed Drive, was charged last week with two counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument after an investigation that was opened by the Letcher County Sheriff's Department.

Cook allegedly used a counterfeit $5 bill on October 24 at Collins Grocery located in Colson. The next day he allegedly went to a home, also located at Colson, and was able to obtain change for another fake $5 bill.

Cook was identified during the investigation as the individual who made the transactions in both cases, according to Lieutenant M.K. Terry, of the sheriff's department.

Kentucky State Police, Secret Service agents, and the sheriff's department went to Cook's residence on November 5 in an attempt to interview him but were unable to find him. He was located moments later and a short pursuit occurred prior to his arrest. Cook now also faces numerous traffic violations including fleeing and evading police.

An investigation into the case is continuing by the sheriff's department and state police, and officials say several other charges may be filed against Cook and other individuals believed to be involved in the counterfeiting.

State police have opened investigations into two other cases similar to the one at Colson.
