      Funeral services for Avery Johnson, 65, of Seco, were held December 23 at Everidge Funeral Home. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery at Mayking. A son of the late Willie and Jane Adams Johnson, he was born in Letcher County. He died December 20 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was the brother of the late Shilie Hall and Dorothy Davis.

      Josh Dean Wampler of Thornton, died January 1 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was 63 years old. Born in Letcher County, he was a son of the late Frank and Goldie Craft Wampler, the father of the late Sonny Bates, and an uncle of the late Jonas Wampler and Matt Wampler. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
