For a guy always in control, Clemens makes strange choices
      He will never get the benefit of the doubt now. That's because, simply put, there's no longer much doubt at all. Roger Clemens took care of that at a news conference Monday night he called himself. It was a strange decision for a man who built a Hall of Fame-worthy resume on a cornerstone of control.

Louisville's 'Killer P's' checkmate struggling UK
      Preparation, poise, Palacios, Padgett, and of course, a Pitino Plan. All Killer P ingredients fueling Louisville's romp at Rupp Arena last week. Classic Pitino. Louisville pulled together its best and smartest 40 minutes this season for Kentucky and bussed home bragging rights up I-64 with big music and red and black flags at full mast.

Cougar boys drop a close one
      The Letcher Central Cougars boys' basketball team participated in some big-time district play last week, starting with a trip to Pippa Passes to take on defending 14th Region champion June Buchanan. Already been battle tested by some of the best teams in the state, June Buchanan has taken on the likes of Lexington Catholic and Mason County, as well as Louisville Desales.

Girls lose by 3
     Shannon Bays, a forward for the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars, drew a foul in LCC's 49- 46 loss to visiting Betsy Lane Monday night. Bays led the Lady Cougars in scoring with 18 points. Letcher Central, which has lost four in a row, will play at Jenkins Friday night. (Photo by Chris Anderson)

Wildcat fans are nation's most loyal
      Which college has the most loyal sports fans in all of America? I vote for the University of Kentucky. What other school could do what UK did on the day when: The basketball Wildcats drew 19,184 for its non-game with Florida International in Rupp Arena? All but about 30 fans were Blue.

     BIRTHDAY - David Bledsoe turned 13 years old on Dec. 13. He is the son of Kevin and Terenia Bledsoe of Cumberland. His grandparents are David and Mellie Standifer of Cumberland, and Helen Bledsoe of Partridge and the late James Bledsoe. He killed his first deer Oct. 14 during the Youth Hunt.
