      August 21, 1958 Officials of Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Corp. said this week they do not believe Whitesburg residents will be inconvenienced by a proposed move of the company's local business office to Pikeville. All Letcher County schools will open Monday, Aug. 25, at 8:30 a.m. School Supt. W.B. Hall said schools will be in session all day on opening day.

The wheels on the bus go round
      Dear Tom and Ray: I recently bought a 1966 Volkswagen Bus Sundial Camper and noticed that it has a set of 205/75/R14 tires on the front and a set of 185/75/R14 tires on the back. I don't know how long it was driven this way by the prior owner. Is this dangerous? Could it have caused damage to the Bus? Of course, I am not going to leave them that way!

Troop ship was not an easy ride
      Did you ever get carsick, airsick or boatsick, in other words, motion sickness? Not a very good feeling, is it? I have been carsick, or I should say bus-sick, and seasick. I never could ride a bus unless I rode near the front. I rode several while in the service and I got educated real quick.
