Cougars got little fight from Tigers
      The Letcher County Central Cougars out-clawed the Clay County Tigers 41-14 on Friday to rebound from a tough onepoint loss to Perry Central the week before. The Tigers are led by their Mr. Football candidate, senior quarterback Zack Lewis.

UK at 'Bama game on CBS
      TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Alabama-Kentucky game will be televised by CBS. The Oct. 4 game at Bryant- Denny Stadium will kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The two teams haven't met since the Crimson Tide's 45-17 win in 2004. Other Southeastern Conference games to be televised that weekend include Florida at Arkansas and Auburn at Vanderbilt.

The team is off to a perfect 3- 0 start as it prepares for a final nonconference tuneup against Western Kentucky Saturday, but the Wildcats' players understand now how thin the line between perfection and disaster can be.

Meeting planned
      Whitesburg Little League will conduct its annual general membership meeting on Sunday, October 5, at 4 p.m. at Whitesburg City Hall. The 2009 Board of Directors will be established.
