Francine Caudill recovering from heart bypass surgery
Jeremiah keep forgetting to mention
Since I skipped a column last week, I seem to have forgotten what I planned to write this week - oh, well. Francine Caudill is doing pretty well after recently having heart bypass surgery. She had to stay in St. Joseph's Hospital for awhile but has been recuperating at home at Sycamore with the help of family and friends. It's good to see that repairs are being made to the little picnic gazebo below Benton Back's home. I'm not sure who is doing the work but "hats off" to them. We had our September Homemaker's meeting last week at the home of Stewart and Francis Whitaker on Elk Creek. There were about 30 of us and we enjoyed a potluck lunch and were happy to have former member Ethel Morris of Florida with us. Some of the ladies purchased apples that Stewart picked while we were there. Sylvania Whitaker has been feeling under the weather lately. I think she had pneumonia and we hope she is feeling better. Virgil Combs also hasn't been doing too well. He gets home from the hospital but doesn't get to stay home long before going back. We have missed seeing him out and about at church and we hope his health will improve. Bascom McIntyre spent a few days in the hospital and is now recuperating at Letcher Manor. His daughter, Hester, stopped by and visited with Hazel Adams while she was here checking on Bascom. Martha Adams Howard of Dayton, Ohio, died Sept. 19. She was the daughter of the late George M. and Sally Adams of Carbon Glow. She was the widow of Reed Howard and had just recently turned 91 years old. Her sisters are Hazel Adams, Susie Raglin, Opal Banks and Danola Bell, and her brothers are Bill Adams, Jr. Adams and Luther Adams. She is also survived by her two daughters, Deanna and Donna. Martha's funeral was on Sept. 22. Ryan Morton had to spend about a week in Hazard Hospital due to pneumonia. He is the son of John and Melanie Morton of Jeremiah. Anthony and Beth Banks of Cincinnati, Ohio, came in last Thursday and camped out at Litt Carr Campground at Carr Creek Lake until Sunday. While here, Beth visited her dad, Ed, and Grandma Opal and the rest of her Banks family. Anthony and his niece went to Campton on Friday to visit with his family. Anthony and Densmore Goodson enjoyed Saturday night fishing at Carr Fork. They were hoping when they arrived back home on Sunday that the electricity would be on. They had not had any electricity since last Sunday. I keep forgetting to mention that Martin Joe and Bonnie Adams are called Grandpa and Grandma. Mathew and his wife have a cute little girl and Sarah and her husband recently had a little baby girl too. Elmer and Olga Caudill's son, Randy, has been having thyroid problems and we hope the doctors can help with his problem. There will be a 20-family yard sale on Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the Colley's Mini-Mart at Jeremiah.
