Hospice breaks ground on new Hazard facility
      Hospice of the Bluegrass - Mountain Community held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Hospice Free-standing Inpatient Facility in Hazard on Sept. 17. The facility will be located on 3.8 acres of land on Miss Edna Lane, adjacent to ARH Parkway, which intersects Route 80 in Hazard.

      CHICAGO Women are going for breast cancer gene testing in record numbers, forcing more parents to face a tough question: Should we test the kids? About 100,000 tests for breast cancer gene mutations were done last year, double the number in 2005. The trend may grow even more because of widening insurance coverage and a new law banning genetic discrimination.

Leaky heart valve not always serious
      DEAR DR. DONOHUE: Six years ago, I had a heart attack that resulted in triple bypass surgery, and I had to have my mitral valve replaced. Health, wellness expo planned
      The Kentucky River Community Health and Wellness Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 30, at Hazard Community and Technical College.
