Part-time enrollment falls slightly at SKCTC; full-time enrollment up
      Fall enrollment at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is expected to be at 4,805, once all students are enrolled by the October 31 deadline, according to college officials. This is a decrease of 44 stu- dents from the same period last year, a drop of just under one percent.

Letcher board votes to move ahead on plumbing renovations, sidewalks
      The Letcher County Board of Education approved moving forward on two construction projects at a special-called meeting Monday night. The board approved financial plans for plumbing renovations at Fleming-Neon Elementary School and for the construction of sidewalks near West Whitesburg Elementary School.

Building may be done by March
      Construction of the new Letcher County Health Department is on track to be completed by March 2009, says the department's director Lana Mullins. Workers have been laying brick near a balcony of the building facing East Main Street in Whitesburg. The balcony is being constructed in front of a second floor boardroom, which will have hardwood floors.
