Association meets at Little Cowan church
Cowan
Ray and Sharon Bird of Eolia, visited Verna and Chester Rayburn in Liberty. They attended the Apple Festival where they saw the world's largest apple pie. They also enjoyed visiting the Amish community. The 156th Association of the Eastern District of Primitive Baptist Churches was held at Little Cowan Oct. 2-5 with a large attendance each day. The church did an excellent job of welcoming and feeding the large crowd. We had much support from members of the community and some from away. We extend our thanks and appreciation to each person who made cakes, worked in the kitchen, helped with parking, and had any part in making this such a blessed event. The delegates voted to send the association to the Fairview Church in Bellbrook, Ohio, in 2009. Verna and Chester Rayburn spent the week at their place on Little Cowan and attended the association. Thelma Ison of Flemingsburg, and Minerva and Russell Yonts of Indiana, are also on Cowan and were involved in the association. Marilyn Banks stayed with Linda Lucas and worked hard for us. She then joined her husband, Pat; her daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Chris; and granddaughter Maddie at the lake. Tracy and Roger Yonts and Duane and Anna Yonts spent last Saturday, Family Day, with Wesley Yonts at Morehead State University. Wesley is a cadet in the ROTC program there. They also attended the football game. They expressed a good time. Brooke, Tracy's daughter, spent the weekend with her sister, Brittany, and husband Cal. We were happy that Jeanette Day was able to attend the association one day, also Lucy Montgomery and her daughter, Marietta, from Royalton, and Elsie Boggs of Cowan. Happy third birthday to Jacob Cornett on Sept. 30. He is the grandson of Bennett and Linda Combs. Bennett's sister, Elizabeth Combs Looney of Franklin, Ohio, also has a birthday this month. Kendall and Janet Cook of Ohio, were visiting family and friends this past weekend. He is the son of the late Elmer and Maxie Cook. |
