Services held for Hattie Bumgardner
Hattie Bumgardner, 97, of Kingsport, Tenn., formerly of Burdine, died May 3 in Kingsport.
Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Sylvania Potter and the widow of Teddy V. Bumgardner. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Fann Bumgardner, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Bumgardner was a school teacher and aided in the family business. She was active in community affairs and was a member of the Jenkins First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Patricia C. Porier, Norfolk, Va.; three grandchildren, Beth Barnett, Catherine Edwards, and Tracy Porier; and two greatgrandchildren, Caitlin Edwards and Joshua Edwards.
Funeral services were held May 6 at Carty Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial was in the Fann Bumgardner Cemetery at Burdine.
