Karen Boggs named to Darden Society
Karen Elaine Boggs of Whitesburg was named to the Darden Society at The University of Virginia's College at Wise during a May 1 induction ceremony.
The college's oldest honor society, the Darden Society is named for Colgate W. Darden, Jr., former governor of Virginia and former president of the University of Virginia. The Darden Society was founded in 1964 by the late E. L. "Buck" Henson, Jr., professor emeritus of history.
Darden Society membership is based upon scholarly achievement and intellectual promise. Sophomores become eligible for membership by completing their first three semesters in residence at the college with superior records. Juniors and seniors must be nominated by faculty members of their major departments.
