Rites held for Samuel Blevins

Funeral services for Samuel H. Blevins, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio, were held June 19 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Luckey, Ohio. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park in Perrysburg.

Born in Jenkins, he was a son of the late Nathan and Victoria Roland Blevins. He was a truck driver for Preen Transfer and also worked as a mechanic and carpenter and for Builder's Supply. After moving to Ohio, he was employed by Motorways as a truck driver.

Blevins died June 16. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was the father of the late Edda Kay Blevins, grandfather of the late John Blevins Jr., Jenny Pauline Blevins and Julie Paulette Blevins, brother of the late James Blevins, Roland Blevins, Bryon Blevins, Mary Francis Blevins, Ella Bentley, Buelah Rullo, and Charlotte Hicks, and father-in-law of the late Stanley Hornberger.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Minnie McKenzie Blevins; three daughters, Anna Meiring and husband Gerald, Luckey, Ohio; Linda Hornberger, Perrysburg, Ohio; and Myrna Arthur and husband David, Beaufort, S.C.; two sons, John Blevins Sr. and wife Crescent, Wayne, Ohio, and Nathan Blevins, Lambertville, Mich.; an adopted son, Gary Ranville, Lambertville, Mich.; four grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren; a sister, June Bentley, Wise, Va.; and a sister in-law, Mabel Blevins, Perrysburg, Ohio.
