Rites are held for Robert Holbrook

Robert Holbrook, 89, died September 4 at his home in Whitesburg.

A son of the late Abbot and Clemey Tolliver Holbrook, he was a brother of the late Mayo Holbrook, Rufus Holbrook, Marvin Holbrook, and Mary Taylor.

He was a member of the Whitesburg First Baptist Church, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Opal Hall Holbrook; a daughter, Sharon Holbrook of Whitesburg; and two sisters, Beatrice Strouth and husband Wayne of Pound, Va., and Gertrude Hughes of Mentor, Oh.

Funeral services were held September 7 at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Memorial Park at Ermine.
