Highlights of Fleming-Neon Hi

By BENNETT WELCH

1941

Senior Will: We, the seniors of Fleming High, in the year ’41, being of sound mind and body, do hereby, before entering a new phase of life, wish to leave our most valuable possessions to those less fortunate than we.

First, as a group, we wish to leave our promptness, vigor, sincerity and adaptability to the juniors. Then, with our teachers we leave the memories of the past four years.

Gaynelle leaves her tall lankiness to Etta Craft so she will have the ability to look down on others.

Ruth, the twin, leaves her black curly hair to Jeane Goodson.

Anna leaves her pretty teeth to Pearl McMillian, wishing her much chewing power as she has.

Pearl leaves her personality to Rose Hazen, hoping it will help her increase her list of friends.

Percy leaves her dimples to Lorena Childers, wishing her a smile to win the boys.

Frances leaves her flirting ability to Hope Bryant.

Julia leaves her big brown eyes to Alice Elovitz — they’ll tumble for a wink any time.

Mildred leaves part of her knowledge to Billy Wayne Wright with the request that he use it occasionally.

Vera leaves her intelligent look to Hazel Wright.

Mary leaves her song “Oh Foots” to any manless girl who would like to use it.

Ruth Taylor leaves her beautiful white hands to Doris Stapleton.

Blanch leaves that big wad of blow gum that is sticking under her seat in Miss Adams’s room to Barbara Pass.

Eddythe leaves her good fortune for getting a husband to Arlena Knox.

Gertrude and Ruby leave their ability to sing to Ida Mae Welch and Ruth Collier .

Virginia Lee leaves her complexion to Mabel Adkins, and Mary Belt leaves Kelly Collier to any pretty girl who wants him.

Ethel and Lorena leave their friendship to those two high-tempered freshmen girls.

Harding and Robert leave their jitterbugging ability to Sylvester Allen, while J.L. and Lloyd leave their “way” with Miss Adams to Freddie Hazen.

Darrel bequeaths his football helmet to Tony Vertuca to be used on top of his, for double protection against Pikeville.

Jack and Fred leave their luck on the “Grid” to Delmar Hall.

Lawrence and Homer leave their blushes to Frances Denham.

Paul and Bill leave their arguing instincts to Bethel.

Mary Belt and Anna Lean Spence bequeath their different hairdo’s to Lorena Childers.

Crandell and Mae leave their musical talent to Norma Lee Wright.

Pauline Stapleton leaves her ability to cry any time to Anna Bell Mitchel.

Herschel leaves his good-looking figure, and Harry leaves his blue eyes to Tommy Hackney.
