Grand jury indicts 12

The Letcher County Grand Jury has charged an Isom woman with promoting contraband in the first degree while she was confined in the Letcher County Jail.

Deputy Jailers Angie Field and Samantha Gordon say they saw Jessica C. Moberly, 35, of 778 Hwy. 1148, Isom, retrieve a baggy containing 19-1/2 Quetiapine pills — an antipsychotic used for the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder — from her vagina on Feb. 16 after they attempted to send Moberly to receive an x-ray. They say they had received information that Moberly had drugs on her person.

Others indicted by the grand jury are:

• Joe Webb Jr. — Complicity to receiving stolen property (auto, over $500 but under $10,000) and complicity to criminal mischief (first degree).

Webb, 29, of 21 Garfield Dr., Whitesburg, and 2801 Hwy. 931 N, Whitesburg, is charged with acting alone or with Regina Webb in March in having a 2007 Honda allterrain vehicle belonging to Wendell Cook. Webb is also accused of damaging the ATV, causing a loss of $1,000 or more.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Jason Bates and Wendell Cook testified in the case.

• Kevin Houston — Escape (second degree), theft by unlawful taking (under $500) and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Houston, 31, of 489 Adams Branch, Jeremiah, on Sept. 27 left the home in Letcher County in which he was supposed to be staying while on home incarceration with the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Home Incarceration Services. Houston is also charged with taking the ankle bracelet belonging to the Home Incarceration Services.

Mickey Stines of the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Office testified in the case.

• Steve Allen Sandlin — Escape (second degree).

Sandlin, 39, of 203 Raymonds Branch, Whitesburg, is charged with escaping from the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Home Incarceration Services on March 16. Sandlin is accused of leaving the home in which he was under house arrest without permission. Officials say he was found driving in a truck on Hwy. 15 with his father, whom Sandlin said was sick.

• Timothy Sexton — Flagrant non support and being a persistent felony offender.

Sexton, 34, of 47 Brandon Lee Rd., Whitesburg, is charged with failing to provide support for his minor child(ren).

Monica Adams of the Letcher County Division of Child Support testified in the case.

• Charles Scott Howard III — Flagrant non support and being a persistent felony offender.

Howard, 33, of 1162 Big Branch, Hallie, is charged with failing to provide support for his minor child(ren).

• Ikey McCoy II — Flagrant non support.

McCoy, 49, of 62 Francis Subdivision, Hatfield, is charged with failing to provide support for his minor child(ren).

• Brandie Howard — Flagrant non support.

Howard, 33, of 1282 Dairy Hollow Jenkins, is charged with failing to provide support for her minor child(ren).

• Gloria Brimmer — Flagrant non support.

Brimmer, 25, of 339 Bill Moore Branch, Whitesburg, is charged with failing to provide support for her minor child(ren).

• Brian Banks — Flagrant non support.

Banks, 40, of 27 Als Rd., Premium, is charged with failing to provide support for his minor child(ren).

Profitt, 41, of 3904 Thornton Rd., Thornton, is charged with failing to provide support for his minor child(ren).
