Larry Hatton is out of hospital

“This is the Howard family when we were much younger and all together” said Whitesburg correspondent Oma Hatton. “We are all grandparents and great-grandparents. We miss the four children we lost and our parents. I am the oldest in the family.” “This is the Howard family when we were much younger and all together” said Whitesburg correspondent Oma Hatton. “We are all grandparents and great-grandparents. Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and not working too hard if you have a garden. I wish I had one, especially since I look across the road and see Jr. and Robin Sexton’s. I’m watching it grow and it looks so pretty. I’m glad they cut the trees so I can see it.

I’m glad my son Larry is out of the hospital and seems to be doing pretty good. I told him he better take care of himself. He comes down to visit me every day with Linda.

I hardly ever get a visitor except my sister Betty Tyree. We love sitting on the porch with “Suzy”. She looks for people to come see her. Betty came our Friday and I’m always glad to see her.

Seems like everyone is busy. I must be busy also, but I don’t see much I get done.

I had a nice long visit with Gladys Smith and we talked about everything and we’ve never met. She says she is going to visit me sometime. She lives in Bolivia, N.C. Did I say it was a telephone visit we had? She used to write for The Eagle a long time ago.

I haven’t seen anyone of my family, but we do talk on the phone and try to keep up with each other.

I’m glad someone knew the man in the picture of the miners, Dewey Collins.

I got a call from my sister Joanne Brown in Indiana. She calls me every day and I always look forward to it.

We all were pleased with our church. They had an elder appreciation service and gave all of us a certificate of achievement and it was beautiful. I’m sure pleased with mine. Yes, I was old enough.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Danny Adams. I’ve known him and all of his family. They have had a lot of sadness for a long time. We went to church for many years. The last time I saw him he was at our church on an Easter Sunday a few years ago and I enjoyed talking to him. He was a good singer and musician. I have some tapes of him singing with my brother Bobby Howard.

My sister Betty Tyree has all her family visiting her and they are having a good time.

My son Astor “Red” came in for a weekend and I sure enjoyed it. We went to Pine Mountain Grill with my son Bill and wife Sandra for breakfast. You can always see old friends there. That’s one reason I like to go.

My son Bill is keeping real busy since he hasn’t been driving the school bus since school is out. He has a lot of things to do and he gets to see a lot of his grandchildren. He loves that and they don’t live far away.

I wish I had a lot of news, but I don’t get out much and don’t see many people and don’t get any news.

A big hello to all my friends!

May God bless all of you. Try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
