Services held for Zelma Sumpter

Funeral services for Zelma June Sumpter, 63, were held July 11 at the Payne Gap Cemetery.

A daughter of the late Cody and Etta Little Mullins, she died July 8 at her home at McRoberts.

She was the widow of Ray Sumpter, and a sister of the late Nell Everidge, Nora Holmes and Clarence Mullins.

Mrs. Sumpter was a member of the Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

Surviving are two daughters, Stephanie Caudill and Ernie Isaac of Winchester, and Tiffany Sumpter and Tommy Roark of Whitesburg; a son, Raymond Sumpter of McRoberts; two stepdaughters, Stephanie Russell and husband Owen of Cowan, and Leslie Day and husband Randy of Whitesburg; three sisters, Margie Robinette of Bristol, Tenn., Shirley Krull of Blountville, Tenn., and Betty Hedgespeth of Greensburg; two brothers, Victor Mullins and Cody Mullins, Jr., and wife Martha, all of McRoberts; four grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
