HOPING FOR A BITE

— Logan Conn, 8, found a shady spot along the bank of the North Fork of the Kentucky River at Mayking early Monday night to fish for a smallmouth bass his father, Jason Conn of Wright’s Mountain, Cram Creek, spotted just a few minutes before. Logan, who received the rod and reel for a birthday present from a grandfather recently, was also fishing with his brother, Lincoln, 11. Both brother and father say Logan normally has all the luck when it comes to catching fish, but on this day he ran into difficulty when he broke his fishing pole while trying to free a Rooster Tail lure that snared a tree limb.
