Family gathers for hospital visit

Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well and keeping cool. It’s sure been hot.

I haven’t done much or gone out much it’s been so hot! I’ve been watering my flowers and my tomato plants and staying indoors and doing a few jobs I needed to do.

I had a great day. My sister Judy Greene came in and took me and Betty Tyree to see our nephew, David Pennington. He has been real sick, and now he’s doing so much better in Pikeville Hospital.

We had a little family reunion there. Our brother Jack Howard and his wife Dona, Hubert Howard and his wife Joyce, David’s wife Tanis, their son and his wife and their little girl were all there, and we enjoyed seeing them.

We had lunch at Lee’s and drove around some and then headed for home. Judy had to go home to Tennessee at the lake.

Our great- grandson Beau Hatton and his wife Lauren moved to Alabama, and we will miss them. It’s been in their plan for their ministry, and I hope everything goes well for them. I wish it wasn’t so far away.

We had one of the best church reunions with Bro. Jimmy Jewell, and we had a large crowd every night.

It’s been so hot I have stayed in and not seen many people and I haven’t really heard much from anyone.

Rose Ballard called and told me she had met an old friend of mine, Bethel Church, from Marlowe a long time ago. She didn’t say where she met him. I’m surprised that he remembered me. He lived with some friends of mine and they treated him well and everyone liked him.

Bennett Welch, I look forward to all the pictures you put in your column, especially last week’s. I knew all of them and some of them are no longer with us.

Glenora Eldridge, I was so glad to get your letter. I’m glad you enjoyed your visit with me. I wish it had been longer. It would be good if we lived closer and could run over and have a cup of coffee, visit and talk. We have a lot we could talk about; the good old days.

I don’t hear from anyone much. I guess everyone is busy, and some of them have health problems. I hope they are doing better.

We have two weddings coming up in our family. My grandson Joe Hatton and nephew Ben Howard, and I sure wish them the very best!

Hello Bertha Dye, Gladys Smith, Iva Cheatham and Mary J. Adams. I hope you are all doing well.

I’ve been sitting on my porch drinking coffee and a big, dark cloud came over and I thought it was the rain that we need so bad, but it was some hard wind, and I had to come in.

We have been having so many funerals and so much sickness.

I’m looking forward to the Hatton reunion the last Saturday in August. I love to see people, and I don’t get out as much as I’d like to.

Hello Elzie Ray and Irene Hatton. I hope you get to come to the reunion.

It’s time to get ready for Sunday school. May God bless all of you; try to be in church somewhere if you are able.
