Donald Trump is the only person on earth who could make me feel sorry for Jeff Sessions, the attorney general. After Trump gets rid of Sessions and a couple of other members of his cabinet he will have gotten rid of pretty much everyone who is not from Goldman-Sachs or some other big New York City firm. Trump is draining the swamp and replacing it with raw sewage.

. I am responding to the comment about the power of attorney in Haymond. We know exactly who you are talking about. It is a shame. I am glad someone is putting this in the paper about the man from Haymond, because we all know him well. So keep up the good work. Maybe Letcher County will figure out who he is. People should not be allowed to use someone and then throw them down like a dog. Thank you, and God bless.

. I don’t know why Kentucky refuses to turn our private information over to the Federal government. After all, our President is someone who knows what is best for us and we should think of him as a benevolent big brother. And Big Brother is always watching out for you. Remember, Big Brother knows best.

. Just who do the people at WXKQ think they are to kick somebody off ‘The Swap Shop’ after they have been there a number of years advertising their nightcrawlers? Let me tell you something: There is no law against the selling of nightcrawlers or red worms. People get on ‘The Swap Shop’ every day to try to make a profit; most of them are in business for themselves. My cousin sells his nightcrawlers for a hobby. He does not get rich off ‘The Swap Shop’ whatsoever, but the management at WXKQ thinks a dollar a dozen is a high price to pay. Well my cousin tells the truth: When you go to the bait store, all you get are dried-up worms. If WXKQ thinks my cousin in Doty Creek is running a business, well ha ha ha.

. The actions of the Letcher County Clerk’s Office, beginning with Charlie Wright and continuing under Winston Meade, have cost my family millions of dollars. I called the Frankfort land office and they tell me how much money it would cost to come up here and sort out the deeds and titles. The officials in Whitesburg are like cats in litter boxes; they keep scratching and covering, but one day they’ll get it on them. Thank you.

First of all let’s address the pro-tem judge, Eddie Meade. This past week the fiscal court spoke of possibly giving him a raise. What? Jim Ward said on the front page that times will probably get worse. Alright, the pro-tem judge is not meant to be a full-time job to start with. It is supposed to be a part-time job with no benefits and a salary of $12,000 year. The only time he is to actually do anything is when the county judge is unavailable. This whole county administration is full of lies. I for one can’t wait until election time. It’s time to clean house. I’m going to do everything I can starting now to get all of you voted out. Eddie Meade, if you didn’t have this job you couldn’t do anything else.

. How come people who live right beside the trailer court on 588 at UZ can burn tires all day behind their trailer and the EPA and Air Quality people in Hazard don’t think it is important? I’ve got pictures of the fire and smoke. Something needs to be done.

. Dear Speak Your Piece: We need to vote out some people, including our county judge, our governor, and our state representative. These people can’t even get little things done. Our county judge wants to hold onto the Letcher County Recreation Center and it’s costing us $50,000 a month to operate. I’m sorry, but we need to get our road crews back to work. Our state rep needs to be trying to get our roads; that at this time is our most important need. Our governor is supposed to be a Republican, but he appoints all kinds of Democrats to high positions. He has got to go.

. Why in the world should the taxpayers of America bail out the insurance companies when they had a $15-billion profit last year? This makes no sense in this healthcare bill they’re trying to pass. In the future they want to take more than $700 billion out of Medicare. I know some of it needs cut, but shoot, why kill off all of us? North Korea and Iran will do that quickly enough if they don’t do something about them. Then you’ve got all of us senior citizens. All the young people want to send us to the upper room, but what are they going to do when they send us here? Most of the senior citizens are the ones who are paying taxes. I say God bless America, God bless Mr. Trump, and God bless his family. And quit rattling this old man’s chain.

If you want to make yourself some quick bucks, just go south of the border of Texas and be sure to drive a white van so you can load it up. All I can say is that stupid people around here get what they deserve when they do stupid things. Thank you.

I can’t wait until the county election comes in, because that’s when a couple of people are going out. A couple of them work in the sheriff ’s office. I was wondering something: Gale Dean Campbell is supposed to be laid off, so why is he still driving a county cruiser? That’s a good question. Have a nice day, people of Letcher County.

(While Deputy Sheriff Gale Dean Campbell was laid off from his job of serving summonses to people who fail to pay their garbage bills, he still does some work for the county on a volunteer basis. And the cruiser Deputy Campbell drives belongs to him. He bought and paid for it.)

. There was a leader that made a speech and said, ‘Never, never, never give in. The American people should never, never, never vote for a Democrat again.’ The Democrat party should be held accountable for the destruction of our nation. Our coal jobs were destroyed by Obama, which is a Democrat. Obama was for anything that would destroy our nation. He destroyed our nation morally by promoting men laying with men. God’s word still calls that an abomination. God’s word will never change. God’s word will judge you in the judgment, and if you die in your sins then you will open your eyes in eternal hell. I would also like to say that if the nation of Russia intervened to protect the American people from being further destroyed by the Democrats they tried to help eight years too late. Russia should have helped the American people before Obama destroyed our nation with his ungodly agendas. Jesus died for sinners, but if sinners don’t repent then sinners will go to an eternal hell. America has been defiled because our leaders have rejected the laws of God. Leviticus 18:22, Thou shalt not lie with mankind and with womankind: it is abomination. If you live that way you are living in sin and if you want to go to God’s heaven then you will have to repent and turn from your sin and ask Jesus to save you.

. To Trump: You are a loser. You have fallen flat on your face with every stupid initiative you have attempted. You became president by stirring the emotions of the white, racist middle class voters and now, six months into your presidency, most of them are wishing they had used better judgment. Why don’t you just do the noble thing and resign from office and let our country become respected again? Just pack your ego in a washtub and hitchhike back to wherever you came from. Our nation is currently in a political crisis because of your senseless priorities.

. Please publish the salary of Jamie Hatton, our county attorney. Please list both his salary from the county and from the state. Also would be nice to know what the county pays for individual health insurance for all of the elected officials and also what amount of retirement the county chips in for each elected official.

I am going to vote for Donald Trump if he runs for reelection when his present term is up. It does not matter to me whether or not his efforts to change the format of healthcare in the United States to a more reasonable and affordable institution. It does not matter if he fails, or if he succeeds. At least he tried to improve the idea of healthcare to a more feasible and practicable opportunity for American citizens. The Democrats act like they are trying to destroy the United States and set up some kind of dictatorship-type of government where they (the Democratic Party) would be in total control of everything. Why? That would be the same as doing away with democracy and setting up a dictatorship wherein all of us other people, especially Republicans, would be made slaves out of. We just simply can’t have that here in the United States of America. Therefore, I am going to vote for Donald Trump if he runs again. So lets everybody pray for our leader, Donald Trump. Thank you, God, for sending us a leader like Donald Trump. Amen.

. I don’t know if I got this week’s or last week’s Mountain Eagle, but the reason I bought this paper is because someone finally sees what I see — our godforsaken roads are destroying our vehicles. Big holes slap through the middle of the Red Star Bridge — one that you could throw a cow through — and nothing but rebar showing. Now they should go look at the one near McDonald’s, going toward the Whitesburg nursing home. It nearly knocks my vehicle plumb out of the road and up against the guardrail every time I pass over top of it. So what are we going to have to do to get our bridges and our roads fixed? Or get any kind of roadwork done in this county? That is what I would like to know.

. How has the Whitesburg McDonald’s met all the OSHA requirements during the remodeling construction that has been going on? I can’t believe they’ve been allowed to stay open with all the hazards that have to create an unsafe environment for the workers and the customers. Got to sell those Big Macs, so keep her open.

. I would like to ask a female school teacher if she is afraid of getting caught doing what she is doing at Fishpond Lake. Apparently she’s not.

. Hey, game wardens in Letcher and surrounding counties, what are you all doing about this bear population that’s out of control? What about those Pine Mountain specials — the females having three at a time? Are you going to wait until they kill a child or some adult before you do something about the problem and then say, ‘Oh, we let them get out of control?’ Listen, you idiots, they are out of control now. If you don’t believe me, take you some hamburger meat up to Bad Branch and stand there. I guarantee you won’t stand there long. It’s a shame you put more value on the life of an animal than you do on human beings.

. Are there any nice-looking single women out there? I’m a single white male, 46. I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, and I don’t have any kids. Also, I have never been married. Please let me know. Thank you.

. Let’s see if the most recent case involving a higherup from the City of Whitesburg is handled like the case of another higher-up from Whitesburg who passed out in a restaurant drive-thru and nothing was ever done.

. To a young lady who works at a certain restaurant: We’ve been talking about going riding for a while. Let’s just do it.

. Hello, everyone. This comment is about Obamacare. As you know, our elected officials are wanting to get rid of it or make is so you can’t afford it. It is time to make your voice heard. Come to a rally at Coal Run Park in Pikeville this coming Saturday (July 29) from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. and make your voice heard. Let people know you want to keep Obamacare. Thank you.

. To the one commenting in Speak Your Piece about the power of attorney man: I know who he is and I know what he did. I advise everyone in Letcher County to stay away from that guy. He will take everything, all the way down to an iron skillet.

When I was young and going to school, several of us had the same problem. If you had one of two or three certain last names or you weren’t in the clique or you didn’t have fancy clothing, you were picked on. I am glad to say a certain man I just read about in the paper was my friend. I never did anything in this life to hurt him or make him feel like he was out of place. Certain people may have gotten away with picking on him and me and many others, but I promise this: You will not get away in Heaven with what you’ve done on this earth. You know who you are; I don’t have to call your name. I thank God I got to know the man I’m speaking about. I lost contact with him and didn’t know he had passed. He was a great guy.

. I think it’s a shame that you go to church to listen to the service, the preaching and get help, but instead you’ve got people coming to church to ask you out. That is so sad.

. Could someone out there tell me something about roses? I have 12 of them, but only one of them lived. Does that mean 11 of them were no good?

. My problem with the way things are going in Letcher County is that ever since the county took over the garbage pickup you have people who have never paid one garbage bill. They either burn it, haul it off, or throw it over the hill or in the heads of hollows. Yet the county is going to ask me to pay more because others won’t pay their bills? The county is going to have to attach these bills to vehicle taxes or property taxes, because it is not right to charge me more while others won’t pay. If something isn’t done I am going to cancel my garbage service and start hauling my trash to the head of the hollow.

. I hear the county is going to bring back two road crew men to replace two who are retiring. I’m all for that, but it needs to be done seniority-wise. Don’t bring back special people because they are related to people who just retired.

. If we do not do something with this AEP bunch trying to raise our power rates we will all be sitting in the dark. Our power lines are overgrown with brush and our power goes out during the winter, yet we pay higher bills.

Up on Craft’s Colly is the place I was talking about where the weeds haven’t been cut one time this year and the building is falling into the road. The county judge or somebody needs to come up here and see what is going on.

. I feel that if they do away with the Confederate flags the way they’re trying to they should do away with the Statue of Liberty, too.

. I don’t have but 11 years of schooling and a GED, but I know these people we’re voting into office are doing nothing for Letcher County. The governor has more Democrats in his administration than Republicans. Our state representative can’t even get us a little asphalt. I may have to run for office.

. Dear Speak Your Piece: What’s wrong with the volume on the Government Channel? You have to turn it up to full blast before you can even hear it.

. We’ve all been there in the supermarket, getting ready to pay and the line is backed way up as the people wait on you. Then you come up two or three dollars short or you can’t find your card. We’ve all been there. I would personally like to thank a young girl named Taylor who tried to avoid that situation happening to me by offering to pay my $4.20 I was short. Luckily for me I found both of my cards, plus my mother was outside if couldn’t find them. I just want to go on record as saying Taylor at Food City is a great employee.

. It’s pretty bad when people who move here from out of state look down their nose at people when they are the worst ones.

. Linkin Park is a very good band. Chester Bennington and all were very talented. One my favorites. Hate it ended this way. Prayers to all his family, friends, and fans. So in honor of him this is just a little something I came up with: Sometimes you just gotta release the pain/ Let the tears fall like rain/ Scream and shout/ Just let it out/ This pain is real/ This is the way we deal/ Music, poetry/ People like you and me, this is our therapy/ Sometimes this pain inside oh how it feels like it’s killing/ We just wanna express what we’re feeling/

This is concerning Dr. David Narramore, a very fine dentist here in Letcher County. He has been my dentist for years, and I personally do not believe one thing that is being said about him recently. I do not believe this man would jeopardize his own family, his career, and his standing in the community to be foolish enough to play footsies with someone in Tennessee. I just don’t believe one word of it. We’re living in times where the going thing is lying. People get more things done by lying and making false news reports and things of that nature. My family and I have experienced Letcher County justice and the lying. It is devastating. Liars are very detrimental to families. Far worse things are going on in Letcher County than a news report about Dr. Narramore. Personally, I don’t think Judge Jim Ward should be saying a word about Dr. Narramore. He’s been good for tourism here in Letcher County.

. So after six months, has your man delivered what he promised you? 1. He told you he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something beautiful. You bought it. 2. He told you he’d cut your taxes. You bought it. 3. He told you he’d invest $1 billion in our nation’s crumbling infrastructure. You bought it. 4. He said he’d clean the Washington swamp. You bought it. 5. He said he’d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape. You bought it. But he created the most chaotic White House in modern history, in which no one is in charge. 6. He said he’d close special interest loopholes that have been so good for Wall Street investors but unfair to American workers. You bought it. 7. He told you he’d bring down drug prices by making deals with drug companies. You bought it. But now the White House says that promise is inoperative. 8. He said he wouldn’t bomb Syria. You bought it. But then he

bombed Syria. 9. He called Barack Obama the vacationer in-chief and accused him of playing more rounds of golf than Tiger Woods. He promised to never be the kind of president who took cushy vacations on the taxpayers’ dime, not when there was so much important work to be done. You bought it. 11. He said he’d force companies to keep jobs in America. You believed him. But despite their promises, Carrier, Ford, GM, and the rest are shipping jobs to Mexico and China. 12. He said he’d create coal jobs. You believe him. He hasn’t. But here’s what he has done: Since 1965 a federal program called the Appalachian Regional Commission has spent $23 billion helping communities in coal states fund job retraining, reclaim land, and provide desperately needed social services. The ARC helped cut poverty rates almost in half, double the percentage of high-school graduates, and reduce infant mortality by two-thirds. Trump’s first proposed budget eliminates the ARC. His GOP friends are in the process of killing Hal Rogers’s ‘Reclaim Act’ providing $1 billion for reclamation of coal mining’s destruction. Next time you see Mitch, congratulate him on his choice of friends.

. Dear Speak Your Piece: Concerning your comments on all the killings in Chicago, you forgot a few other famous criminals or infamous criminals if you rather. Let’s see; oh yes, Chicago gave us our last president, Barack Obama. Did you ever notice while all the killing was going on in the city that helped him get the President’s offi ce you never heard a word from him about crime in Chicago until the last few months of his second term? How about former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich (2002-2009)? Yep, he is the one who got caught trying

to sell the vacant U.S. Senate seat that Obama left. Or maybe Mel Reynolds, U.S. House (1993-1995), and his sexual assault of a 16-yearold girl who was a volunteer for his campaign? I have to be fair here; it is not just Chicago. To be honest it is more of a Democrat thing. How about Detroit’s former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (2002-2008)? On March 11, 2013, the disgraced mayor was convicted on 24 of 30 counts related to stealing city money. Kilpatrick, the man who Detroit once trusted to lead it to renaissance, was sentenced to 28 years in prison on October 10, 2013. I would love to compare large cities in the U.S. that are run by Democrats against ones run by Republicans and see which ones are the most successful or which ones have been run into the ground. I look forward to the comparisons. Have a wonderful week. I am. The tomatoes are turning red and I am a happy man. (Why turn the issue of a city’s murder rate into Democrat versus Republican? But since you want to play the game, let’s not leave out former Illinois governor George Ryan, a Republican who was convicted on racketeering and fraud charges in April 2006 and sentenced to six years in prison. You also forgot to mention Dennis Hastert, the former Republican Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives who was convicted of illegally structuring hush payments of $1.7 million to keep a man from going public with the fact that Hastert had sexually abused him and other young boys when they were members of a high school wrestling team Hastert coached. In other words, neither the Republican Party nor the Democrat Party has the claim to the moral high road. Both have their share of criminals and sexual deviants.)
