Service set for Stansberry

Memorial services for Jerry W. Stansberry, 72, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., will be held at 2 p.m., August 26, at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin.

Born in Harlan to the late Robert. W. and Irene Stansberry, he died May 12 after a battle with thyroid cancer.

He had attended Whitesburg Grade School and was a member of the first special education class in Letcher County.

Mr. Stansberry was a self-taught butcher and worked at the family businesses, Bob Stansberry and Sons and Kentucky Fried Chicken, for more than 25 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smyrna, Tenn., and enjoyed painting and drawing.

Surviving are two brothers, Robert H. Stansberry and wife Charlotte, and Thomas Stansberry and wife Betty; two nephews, Jimmy Stansberry and wife Lisa, and Billy Stansberry and wife Melanie; three nieces, Angela Kemp and husband William, Melissa Everidge, and Jennifer Isaac and husband Randy; six great-nephews, Ian Stansberry, Kristopher Stansberry, Jared Isaacs, Ethan Isaacs, Tyler Everidge and wife Stephanie, and Dustin Everidge; a great-niece, Jessica Carpenter and partner Daniel Preston; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Remi Anne Carpenter and Evan James Preston.

Memorial donations may be given to Alive Hospice at 1629 William Dr., Murfreesboro, Tenn., or the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.

Van-Grisell Funeral Home of Corbin has charge of arrangements.
