I think the reason I won’t date anyone is the people I live around. My neighbors and family look down their noses at me. Millstone, I think you should take a long look at yourselves — very long look.

.

So … if one of the reasons you voted for President Trump was his promise to pull us out of Afghanistan, how does it feel to know your gullibility just got taken advantage of yet again?

.

Dear Speak Your Piece: It looks like we’re not going to get much coal business, because we don’t have that much coal left here in Letcher County. We could go down below the water table and put in slope mines, but there’s a big problem with holding the top. The Premium slope mines had more people hurt with roofs falling on workers than any mines in the history of Letcher County. The Premium mines also had workers hurt from back injuries and the like. So you can see that slope mining is no good in Letcher County.

.

The tears on my pillow speak for the pain in my heart.

.

Southern girl was in the city on Friday and dined at the Heritage Kitchen. The daily special was delicious and the bartender kept my glass full. Thanks for a fabulous dining experience.

.

Note: A statue cannot hurt you unless it falls on you, but the forcible removal of any statue or monument only to appease a certain portion of the population is the beginning of a tyrannical government for all of the people. Thank you.

.

The do-nothing Congress combined with CNN, MSNBC, and the Hillary Clinton faction of the Democrat Party and their moral hypocrisy are actually more dangerous to the common good and safety of the people of the United States than all of the hate groups combined. Think about it. Note: Lindsay Graham, Paul Ryan, John McCain, and Mitch McConnell of the Republican Party all need to be replaced. And John Kasich just needs to go home and stay out of sight. Thank you.

.

Did anybody see where a former coach was locked up in the can? That might answer all of those unanswered questions people had about why he wasn’t asked back. You might want to check it out. Thank you.

.

Local folks who think the prices at a certain restaurant are too expensive should go to Kingsport or go to Lexington or go to some other big city and see what you pay and what you get. We have a real gem here in Letcher County. I have been to this restaurant nine times and I have had nine perfect dinners. It is well worth the money. It’s a prime place to eat. Check it out.

What happened in Charlottesville, Virginia will happen in other states and other towns, because this can’t go on. Even though here in America they have a right to march down our streets waving flags and doing just about what they want, the line has to be drawn when they are carrying bats and shields and acting like Roman gladiators. They are looking for a war, and I’m not afraid to say that I’m not above slinging a brick at a Nazi’s head. It’s a disgrace that our police officers lost their lives protecting people during this event, and the poor innocent woman who was killed and others who were wounded by this racist bunch of thugs. I just hate that I wasn’t there with a brick to sling at one of the S.O.B.’s heads. God bless America.

.

When is the Whitesburg Water Company going to fix that big hole that we get into every time we go up Back Street beside the bank? It’s been there for two years and they’ve still not gotten it fixed. When I get my car in it and something happens to it, somebody’s going to pay for it.

.

I think it’s time we rethink the whole ‘Bike Nite.’ I don’t see that it produces any business in town. The bikers don’t bring any money into town, they block off Main Street, and they cost the city money in extra pay to police officers. As it is now, Bike Nite drives away business for the people who want to go to town for the restaurants there. So I’m saying let’s get rid of Bike Nite.

.

Well, well. It didn’t take a certain man long to return to Letcher County. The only question is, where’s the big Russian bride? Another divorce?

.

I went to my first and probably my last Republican meeting last Friday night. There were more RINO’s there — Republicans in name only — than actual Republicans. I have never seen the beat. I don’t know if the people are ignorant or just don’t know any better or just don’t want any better.

.

I see the City of Whitesburg still hasn’t gotten up to the softball field to clean that mess up the city workers left behind. It’s pretty junky. Please respond.

.

I’ve got a question for Kentucky Power Company: I got my power bill this month after being gone for a whole week. My HVAC system was turned off and my water heater was turned off. There was nothing left running in my house except my refrigerator, and my bill was still $35 more than it was the month before. I don’t understand this. Can you all answer this question for me? Thanks.

.

I would like to know when the next county election will be held, because I’m voting my magistrate out and I’m dad-burned sure voting the judge out. We need to see if we can get Carroll Smith to run for judge again. I don’t know which is worse now — the judge or the magistrates.

.

I saw the comment about the disabled man logging. We have one up here who does the same thing. Then he and his wife run to church to try cover it up.

.

On the Monday after Charlottesville, the news media told me there was only one murder in the entire world over the weekend. My dictionary tells me murder is murder, whether it be with a car or a gun. Come on, news media.

.

After eight years without a leader, what a great president this country now has.

.

We are from Clintwood, Virginia and we are wondering about the Pine Mountain Trail. Why is it that horses and hikers share the trails from Elkhorn City to the Kentucky State Line at Flat Gap and hikers share Pioneer Horse Trail, which is six miles long and the only trail in Letcher County, but were told that no horses would be allowed on the new trail from Scuttlehole to Kingdom Come Park? Who makes these rules? Is it the fiscal court or somebody higher up? Thank you.

.

Yes, I would say that we are talking about the same guy having the power of attorney. Is he always trying to sale something?

.

There was a nice article in The Mountain Eagle on August 9, Page 4 about ‘The Rhinestone Cowboy’ and the life of Glen Campbell. It’s a great piece, but it’s not quite complete. I think a lot of people would like to know that Glen Campbell’s first record was The Green River Boys and Glen Campbell with a big bluegrass special. I just thought your bluegrass music readers would like to know that, as bluegrass is often ignored. I appreciate The Mountain Eagle. The paper has always been good to me. And for my faithful listeners, I’m still on bluegrass radio every Sunday morning and Sunday night on WSGS 101.1 in Hazard. I come on at 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. I love each and every one of you, and I’m still a Letcher County boy at heart. So tune me in on your radio and tell others about it as well. Thank you very much. Paul Morris.

.

I was just wondering who is in charge of the Coal Miners’ Monument at Hemphill. I stopped by there the other day to look around, only to find that you can’t read any of the names on the bricks now. There is grass and weeds growing on top of them and the dirt has them all covered up. I was just wondering who’s in charge now. I bought a brick for my dad to be put in over there and couldn’t even find it. I have no idea where it is.

.

If anybody needs any pills, go to Colson. The pharmacy is open 24/7. You can get anything you want.

.

Guess what I’m doing today. I’m making moonshine on my cook stove. I’ve already run off six quarts today. You want to buy a quart?

.

George Washington was a slave owner. I guess the Washington Monument will be pulled over next.

.

Why is the truth no longer acceptable to the media in Washington when it is directed at certain group of people or a certain organization that goes with their agenda?

.

Jesus doesn’t like racists, so don’t think you’re going to get into heaven.

.

Let’s just be real; if at this point you think Donald Trump is doing a good job you are a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, narrow minded greenhorn and should move back to the 1860s.

.

A woman and her husband go to church and she acts like she is so spiritual and holy yet she helps her husband hide his logging to cheat Social Security.

.

I can’t help but believe that all of these dope growers over here in the Linefork area are gay. You ought to see how they all strut around when they get together.

.

Dear Speak Your Piece, I think that Congress and everybody should come home and we’ll put new people up there because these people cannot work together and we can’t have that.

.

This is Master Frank Sexton at John Ng’s Four Season Kung Fu in Whitesburg. I invite all martial artists, no matter what style, to the Frankfort championships September 16. Come compete against the best in Kentucky and the region. Stop wasting your time competing against the same people that you trained with. Come show your real talent and skills against the best. For more information, you can contact me at the Whitesburg Library from 4 to 6 on Tuesdays and Thursdays or you can text a call to my phone, (606) 821-2890. Thank you.

.

Speaking of minding your own business, is that what you were doing that night you were on my property at 3 o’clock in the morning with your little drug addicted buddies stealing that old metal I collected and used to buy your drugs when you got hurt? You ought to practice what you preach and keep your big fat nose out of other people’s property.

.

This is the old Cat Killer. I’m just sitting around thinking about things. It ain’t looking good. You wake up some morning and the house is just broke half and half. You know it has to do with something out in the ocean out there. Well anyway, wish you the best because I’m an old man.

.

You know I’ve been sitting here in line at Burdine School to pick my kids up. Traffic is plumb across the school, across the bridge to the road. You know I’m okay with that if that’s what it takes. It’s no problem. But what does bother me is this one person who works here and comes out every day about 25 or 30 minutes early with children in tow and leaves because she works here. I just wonder if that’s okay. If it is, a few of us were talking and we may check ours out 30 minutes early, and that would beat all this traffic. I just wonder if it’s bad and if it’s not then we all ought to be able to do it.

.

Regardless of what you might think about Trump, just remember that he made the fat boy from Korea back down on his threats.

.

I would just like to wish a certain woman in Premier Subdivision, Jenkins, Kentucky, a happy birthday from the man who loves you with all his heart. I hope you have a nice birthday.

.

I am a Vietnam veteran, 72 years old. It is time to bring back the draft. The young people of this country are tearing down these statues and the way they believe and the way they are doing things, they need to spend time in the U.S. military to honor what this country’s all about, to learn what race is about. Thank you. Have a good day.

.

When a white man has to put his life in the hands of a black man and the black man has to put his life in the hands of a white man and the team leader is an American Indian trying to rescue your Asianborn fighter pilot in the sea in South Vietnam, race doesn’t mean anything. So why in the hell don’t people leave this race deal and start doing things good for this country? Thank you.

.

This is to the citizens of Jenkins: We elected a mayor hoping he would do a good job. He has got a chief of police that does nothing. We have to buy insurance and tags on our cars, so why doesn’t everyone who works for the city have to do the same thing we do. Thank you.

.

I heard that a certain woman was seen on 8/12/17 leaving with a special friend. What is going on?

.

If somebody knows the guy who delivers the Lexington Herald to Jenkins, please let him know if he can’t deliver the paper properly he should let somebody else do it. Some of us don’t have computers and that’s how we get our news. He doesn’t deliver half the time.

.

What’s on my mind is I was looking at The Mountain Eagle and the article about the Jenkins police cars in a high-speed chase at Thornton. Well, I thought for a moment I was having a flashback from the movie ‘Dumb and Dumber.’ The first dummy was taking off from the law. The second dummy was the law. You don’t get in a high speed chase on a 10-foot road coming up through there and get right in the creek to start with. What were you going to do if you ran into somebody and killed them? Whose fault is that going to be? And, too, all you had to do was go back, somebody could have gone over to the old Golden Oak prep plant across the road and they could have got him. There’s no way for that man to get out of there. All these roads are blocked off. You’re just as ignorant as he is.

.

It is clear that Antifa and Black Lives Matter went to Charlottesville for the purpose of causing trouble, but the news media and many Congress people are making them appear to be little angels.

.

To a certain lady: You should be worried more about what your husband is doing than you are about my property line.

.

Friends and neighbors, American Electric Power Company (AEP) is going broke. They only made $375 million during the second quarter of 2017, above all expenses. Mike Schmitt, who was an attorney for AEP, is now Chairman of Commissioners of the Kentucky Public Service Commission. This is a conflict of interest. Mike Schmitt should not be making any decisions concerning AEP. Anyway, the Kentucky Public Service Commission gave Kentucky Power, or AEP, the 17% raise and everything they wanted on July 26, 2017. This decision does not become final until Jan. 18, 2018. AEP can still charge higher rates until the decision becomes final. Kentucky Public Service Commission is also letting customers pay for demolishing half of Louisa Power Plant, owned by Kentucky Power and AEP. The Kentucky Public Commissioner is also letting Kentucky Power customers pay off a loan against this Louisa Power Plant, which was demolished. AEP or Kentucky Power is also letting Kentucky Power customers buy half of Mitchell Power Plant in Moundsville, W.Va. for them, which AEP already owns. This is robbery. This is like selling something to yourself and you still own it. This is a business’s way of robbing the Kentucky Power customers and all these tariffs are on your old electric bill. Now, on your new power bill, after July 28, Kentucky Power proposes that we buy environmental equipment for the Rockport 1 Plant, which is located in Ohio Township in Spencer County, Indiana. Rockport 1 Plant is owned by Indiana and Michigan Power, which are owned by AEP. All of Indiana Michigan Power customers live in Indiana and Michigan. What does this have to do with eastern Kentucky? Should we have to buy environmental equipment for Indiana and Michigan citizens? AEP has no investments and gets all the profits. AEP wants Kentucky Power customers to pay all the expenses, and AEP gets all the rewards. Kentucky Public Service Commission and Frankfort are letting Kentucky Power customers down. They are siding with AEP and big business. Please help by calling and writing. When calling or writing, use Case # 2017- 00179. Kentucky Public Service Commission, P.O. Box 615, 211 Sower Boulevard, Frankfort, KY 40602-4636, or phone 502- 564-3940, or 1-800-772- 4636. Write to Attorney General Andy Beshear, 700 Capitol Avenue, Suite 118, Frankfort, KY 40601-3449, or phone 1-888-432-9257. Everyone should write and call each address above and let these people know we cannot pay these large tariffs and power bills. East Kentucky is being robbed by AEP. We have time before January 18, 2018 to protest these raises. From someone who cares, Broken Down Coalminer.

.

To a certain person: Me and my baby laughed at what a fool you are. If you think I’ve got anything to talk to you about, you can go to hell. I’ve been done with you for years.

.

Pssst! Your fakeness is showing. Blah, blah, blah, nobody cares to have a personal conversation with you about reasons. I really think your man should know what you’re doing behind the scenes. You need to go to the altar, and if you ever get right you’ll be ashamed of yourself for this hypocrisy.
