Services held for Vera Caudill

Vera Sue Raleigh Caudill, 79, died August 31 at her home on Cowan.

Born in Whitesburg to the late Silas and Ora V. Mullins Fields, she was the widow of David Paul Raleigh, and was later married to Thomas Roddie Caudill, who also preceded her in death.

She was one of 13 children, nine of whom preceded her in death.

Known for asking, “Do you want something to eat?”, she was a loving mother, grandmother and sister, and a great friend to all who knew her.

Surviving are two daughters, Rhonda Logan and Tammie McIntosh, both of Cowan; a son, David Raleigh and wife Margie of Cowan; a brother, Mack Fields of Florida; three sisters, Lila Apkins and husband Perry, and Stella Asher and husband David, all of Florida, and Judy Kelly and husband Charles of Knoxville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Paul McIntosh and wife Monica, Britney Smith and husband Chris, June Childers and husband Shannon, Clarissa Herring, Matthew Raleigh, Samantha Ison and husband Kevin, and Zachery Raleigh; and nine greatgrandchildren, Bailey, Addison, Skylar, Shawn, Howard, Lexi, Noah, Benjamin and Baby Bundle.

Funeral services for Mrs. Caudill were held September 3 in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Obey Fields Cemetery at Cowan.
