Services held for Mark Gibson

Funeral services for Mark Ellis Gibson, Sr., 75, were held September 18 at the Lighthouse Church at Colson. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery in Ermine.

A son of the late Riley and Verna Amburgey Gibson, he died September 13.

The widower of Thelma McClain Gibson, he was the stepfather of the late Coy Riley, Allen Riley and Wendell Riley, and a brother of the late Cornelius Gibson, Ronnie J. Gibson, Wayne Gibson, Clifford Gibson, Esbie Gibson and Brenda Gibson.

He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Judy Riley; and two sonsin law, Paul Adams and Terry Kiser.

Mr. Gibson had worked as a coalminer for many years, and enjoyed playing Rook.

Surviving are two sons, Mark Ellis Gibson, Jr. and wife Brenda of Seco, and Emmitt Gibson and wife Bonnie of Cowan; three daughters, Verna Adams and Johnny Wells of Blackey, and Rena Collins and husband Hoagie and Bertha Kiser, all of Thornton; 20 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Coman Gibson of Isom, Earl C. Gibson of Naples, Fla., and Donnie Gibson of Bascam Fla.; two sisters, Edith Morgan of Bascam, Fla., and Charlotte Hall of Litt Carr; and two daughters-in-law, Ellen Riley and Thelma Sean Riley.
