Rotary District Governor visits Whitesburg Rotary

The Rotary Club of Whitesburg was honored to have Cheryl Spriggs, 6740 District Governor for the 2017-2018 Rotary year, as guest speaker for the Sept. 26 meeting. District Governor Spriggs met with the Rotary Board of Directors prior to the meeting to discuss club service projects, fundraisers, membership, and Foundation/Polio Plus donations. She commended Rotary Club of Whitesburg President Darrell Holbrook and the Board for their efforts to serve children in the community by participating in the Imagination Library Program, Dictionary Project, and Read Across America effort.

During her address to the club members, District Governor Spriggs encouraged the club to plant 100 trees by April, strengthen the club by increasing membership, increase participation in humanitarian service projects, increase contributions to the Rotary Foundation/Polio Plus effort and enhance the pub- lic’s image of Rotary. She encouraged club members to work toward achieving a Presidential Citation by completing specific activities in several categories and document the club’s achievements by June 30.

District Governor Spriggs is a member of the Rotary Club of Ashland. She will visit the 38 Rotary Clubs in District 6740 during her term and plan the district conference, which will be held at Shaker Village June 8-9.

Rotary has 35,000 clubs around the world and more than 1.2 million members who are working locally and internationally to change lives through thousands of service projects. The Rotary Club of Whitesburg has been a part of Rotary since Nov. 30, 1934.
