Mrs. Frazier dies at 87


JOANN DIXON FRAZIER JOANN DIXON FRAZIER JoAnn “Ma Jo” Dixon Frazier, 87, died October 9 at her home in Crestwood.

Born in Blackey to Elma “Ell” Marie Dixon, she was reared by her mother and her grandparents, Thomas A. and Anna Caudill Dixon.

She was the widow of Jack “Pa Jack” Frazier and the mother of the late Jake Wakefield.

In 1948, she was married to Jack Frazier just a few months short of her graduation from Stuart Robinson School. Her husband had also attended SRS and they never missed an SRS reunion. In the winter of 1970, she rode the school bus to Whitesburg High School to complete the few classes she needed for graduation.

Mrs. Frazier was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Lagrange.

Surviving are two daughters, Anna Marie “Jill” Frazier and Glenna Jo “Jody” Frazier Curry and husband Keith; two grandchildren, Caitlin Gentry and husband Justin and Matthew Curry and wife Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Adeline Grace Gentry and Asher Allen Gentry; a sister, Betty Sue Moss and husband Jack and her children and grandchildren; a brother in-law, Gurnie Maggard and his children and grandchildren; an uncle, Thomas A. Dixon Jr.; an aunt, Faith May Dixon; and friends, Hal and Claudetta Adams and Charles Ann Mullis.

Funeral services were held October 12 at Covenant United Methodist Church with burial at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Centerfield.
