Thomas Sexton succumbs at 80

Thomas David Sexton, 80, died October 20 at his residence at Sandlick.

Mr. Sexton was the widower of Rena Vaye Sexton, and after her death married Sheila Johnson Sexton, who survives him.

A son of the late Harrison and Dixie Sexton, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebecca Sexton; a grandson, Jamie Sturgill; two great-grandsons, William Ray Sexton and Donny Ray Sexton; two brothers, and five sisters.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Ruthie Sturgill and husband James of Whitesburg, Kathy Donnelly and husband Rodney of Van, and Regina Johnson and husband Earl of Thornton; two sons, David Harrison Sexton of Sandlick, and Bill Sexton and wife Jane of Thornton; a stepson, Mark and wife Brittney of Eolia; a stepdaughter, Crystal Sturgill of Eolia; 14 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held October 23 in Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
