Hopes to help vets and others with chores during winter

To the Editor:

My name is Kegan Cook and I am a resident of Letcher County. I have started an organization called, “Lend a Hand to a Hero.”

This organization is a service that we will provide free labor to our active military, veterans, and emergency service workers that are too busy saving and helping to be able to do their own lawn care or clear snow from their driveways.

While we will provide these services free of charge, we are seeking donations in the form of funds or having equipment donated for use in completing these tasks. The funds would go towards buying ice melt, gas for the equipment and a snowplow for our 4x4 truck. We are also seeking volunteers.

We will be starting this operation in Letcher and surrounding counties this winter. We have a GoFundMe page and a Facebook page.

We are using this opportunity to let everyone know about the services that we are going to provide and to see if we can get enough donations and volunteers to get this up and operating.
