Police looking for man who fired shot outside Walmart

Whitesburg Police are looking for an Ermine man who allegedly fired a shot during a fight in the Walmart parking lot.

Assistant Police Chief Justin Hunsucker said he obtained a warrant for first-degree wanton endangerment on Larry Baker, 32, of Ermine. Baker fled the scene and has not yet been located, Hunsucker said.

According to Hunsucker, Baker came out of Walmart and walked straight to a car parked between the front doors and the garden center, yanked open the door, and pointed an object believed to be a gun into the car. He and the man inside struggled over the object, and then the victim and another eyewitness say one shot was fired. Hunsucker said there appears to a hole from a small caliber bullet in the “A pillar” beside the windshield of the car. Hunsucker said bystanders broke up the fight, and Baker got into a black Nissan Rogue driven by an unknown person and fled the scene.

Hunsucker said the cause of the fight was not certain, but the victim was “with Baker’s ex.”

No one was shot during the incident. Police are still investigating.
