Community calendar

March 3 — A benefit singing and supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carcassonne Community Center at Carcassonne. Admission to the singing is free; a chicken and dumpling or ham dinner will be served for $6 per person. Singers will include Tools of the Carpenter, Dee Dee’s Faith Singers, and Sunrise Ridge, among others. If your singing group would like to participate, contact Michele Caudill at 606-303-3041. The community center will also be selling chances on a handmade quilt made by the Carcassonne Sewing Club. All proceeds from this benefit will go to the Gary “Dukie” Fugate medical fund. March 3 – Bluegrass Circle will play at Country Cabin II in Norton, Va. The show will take place from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for children 2 to 11 years old.

March 9 — The Letcher County Retired Teachers will at noon in the Dairy Queen meeting room in Whitesburg. The nomination of delegates for the KRTA State Convention in April will be held at this meeting.

March 17 — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. at American Legion Post 104, 104 Coal Ave., Neon, (606) 855-4814. The dinner is dine in or carry out and the cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children and 3 and under free. The meal includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, bread, dessert, and beverage. All proceeds will benefit the Ladies Auxiliary.

March 27 — The quarterly meeting of the Kentucky River District Board of Health will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express in Hazard.
