Rose Kirkland dies at 89

Rose Reedy Kirkland, 89, of Whitesburg, died February 22 at Northpoint Healthcare in Lexington.

Born in Amburgey to the late Emery and Arminda Reedy, she was the widow of F. Paul Kirkland.

She was an active member of the Whitesburg First Baptist Church, worked at the Whitesburg Food Pantry, and was a member of the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Kirkland worked in the nursery at the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed bowling and fishing.

Surviving are two sons, Emory Kirkland and wife Judy of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Wade Kirkland of Rossville, Ga.; two daughters, Carol Withrow and husband Andy of Lexington, and Pauly McCormick and husband Landy of Ooltewah, Tenn.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Gillis Reedy and wife Marie of Isom.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kirkland were held February 26 at the Whitesburg First Baptist Church. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Eustes, Fla.
