Mary Lucas buried at Mayking

Funeral services for Mary B. Lucas, 88, were held March 2 in Whitesburg. Burial was in the Haven of Rest Cemetery in Mayking.

Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lillie Mae Hall Deaton and the widow of Elijah Lucas.

She died February 28 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Lucas was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her cats, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and being outside.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda Lee and husband Elbert of Whitesburg, Goldie Cooper of Tazewell, Tenn., and Carol McCray and husband Tim of Thornton; 19 grandchildren, Elbert Jr., Angie, Rocky, Mary Ann, John, Mark, Kristie, Joey, David, Bobby, Casey, Keeston, Katrina, Sabrina, Sheila, Tina, Mike, Kevin and Jesse; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Ruth and Kathy; a stepson, Onas Lucas; a stepdaughter, Eunice Bentley; five sisters; and three brothers.
