Children at Mayking Head Start recently enjoyed a program presented by Jenay Hall, children’s librarian at the Harry M. Caudill Memorial Library in Whitesburg. The children listened as a book was read to them, and made a Christmas card. Each child also received a book and a candy cane.


  These University of Kentucky fans attended the Wildcats’ game versus Georgia. Left to right are Kenny Spangler, daughter Brittany and her brother, Cameron Moncrief of Lexington. Even though Georgia won, 10-year-old Brittany said she enjoyed the game. She loves those Wildcats!

Shooting match set

Marshall and Keaston Wyatt enjoyed a day of shopping with Kentucky State Trooper Derek Hall recently. The two boys are students at the Burdine Campus of Jenkins Elementary School. The shopping trip was part of the Shop with Cop program.


  Katie Lynn Combs was born Sept. 4 to Amy and David Combs of Colson. She is the granddaughter of Mary and Rick Combs of Haymond, and Alicia and Wendell Cook of Colson, and has a three-year-old brother, Payton. She is the great-granddaughter of Shirley and Charles Day of Whitco.


  David James Bledsoe turned 14 years old on Dec. 13. He is the son of Kevin and Terenia Bledsoe of Cumberland. He is the grandson of David and Mellie Standifer of Cumberland and Helen Bledsoe of Partridge and the late James Bledsoe. He is in the eighth grade at Arlie Boggs Elementary School.


Seth Alexander Greer of Jeremiah, is serving as a missionary at the Guadalajara, Mexico mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are receiving two months of training in Spanish at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.
