Guidelines set for businesses now reopening

Kentucky businesses are slowly reopening as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise. But, even with increased testing available, the number of new positives is lower than before. Gov. Andy Beshear this week addressed critics who say that the opening should be faster, saying it could cause the virus to begin spreading again. “If we do that and it shuts down […]

However, Greenberg believes if UK can get Wake Forest transfer Olivier Sarr eligible next season, he’ll bring a whole different level of help than Sestina […]

Spring bass fishing is still going well

It seems like everywhere I look — and to whomever I talk about it — bass fishing is going well. I have seen things online where a lot of my friends have caught some big bass. In Kentucky and Tennessee the lakes are at summer pool and look very good. Bass are in pre-spawn and you most likely will find […]

Struttin’ Time

Hunters harvested 159 turkeys here

Our spring turkey season ended May 10. The total harvested in Letcher County was 159. Of those, 136 have been long beards and 13 have been jakes. Archery has accounted for two of the kills, and muzzle-loaders for one. I am thankful that we have gone through another season with no accidents. You can thank hunting safety courses for that. […]

Salome’s Stars

For week of May 18

ARIES (March 21 to April 19) You might be a bit shaken by a friend’s request. But before the Lamb leaps to conclusions, insist on a full explanation. You still might say no, but at least you’ll know what you’re saying no to. TAURUS (April 20 to May 20) Seeing red over those nasty remarks by someone with an ax […]
