10 get out of jail




Ten inmates from Letcher County have recently been released from the custody of the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Those recently released are:

• Jimmy D. Sexton, 45, who was convicted of murder in 1987 and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, was released from prison July 1.

• Elihue Mullins, 30, was released from prison June 27. He was serving a sentence for second degree robbery, third-degree burglary, theft of a firearm, and second-degree escape. He had been in prison since December 5, 2005. Mullins was sentenced to 17 years and served two years and six months.

• Danny Little, 55, was convicted in May 2003 of seconddegree rape and was sentenced to five years imprisonment. Little was released May 24. Little will also have to comply with the Department of Corrections sex offender registry guidelines.

• Jessie Benton Dennis, 32, was released from prison May 25. Dennis was sentenced to five years imprisonment for seconddegree burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He entered prison on October 27, 2004.

• Angela Mullins, 43, was convicted of second-degree assault and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Mullins was sentenced to five years in prison and was released May 30.

• Curtis S. Cornett Jr., 40, was released from prison June 12. Cornett was convicted of two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and had been in prison since February 21, 2007. He was sentenced to five years in prison and served one year and four months.

• Matthew Whitaker, 22, who was convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance second degree in September 2007, was released from prison on July 1. He was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and served 10 months.

• Shannon Ray Adams, 27, was released July 1 after being in prison since April 7, 2008 after being convicted of second-degree escape. He was sentenced to one year and six months in prison and he served three months.

• Michael Taylor, 46, was released from prison June 18. Taylor was convicted in October 2004 of receiving stolen property (two counts), first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving on a suspended license, and seconddegree escape. Taylor was sentenced to five years imprisonment and served three years and eight months.

• Kevin Leighton Boggs, 43, who was convicted of receiving stolen property in 2006, was released from prison July 1. Boggs was sentenced to four years imprisonment and served two years and three months.
