17 candidates have already filed to run for county offices

Seventeen candidates — including nine incumbents — have filed to run for Letcher County offices in the May election.

The offices of county judge/executive, sheriff, county attorney, jailer, county clerk, coroner, magistrates and constables will be on the ballot for the primary election.

Incumbents who have filed papers in the Letcher Court Clerk’s Office since Nov. 6 are County Clerk Winston Meade, Sheriff Danny Webb, Judge/Executive Jim Ward, County Attorney Jamie Hatton, Jailer Dan McCall, Coroner Marty Baker, District One Magistrate Bobby Howard,

District Two Magistrate Terry Adams and District Four Magistrate Keith Adams.

Jonathon Hall filed candidacy papers on Nov. 7 to run for sheriff.

So far, candidates for magistrate in District Three include Bill “Cody” Rose, Danny Bentley, Randall “Buck” Adams and Derek McCall.

Richard Kincer is running for magistrate in District Two and Kenny Whitehead is running for magistrate in District Four.

Ernest Ison is running for constable in District One.

The deadline to file papers for the primary is Jan. 28.
