18 charged in latest grand jury indictments


Eighteen people are named in indictments returned by the Letcher County Grand Jury including two men accused of sexual abuse of victims under 12 years of age.

Henry L. Halcomb, 65, of 16154 Hwy. 160, Linefork, is charged with three counts of first-degree rape of a victim under 12 years of age and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Tommy Key of Harlan County Social Services and Kentucky State Police Trooper Michael Burton testified in the case.

Larry Easterling, 52, of 157 Malibu Drive, Millstone, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age.

Kentucky State Trooper Jarrett Fields and Brandon Stidham of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services testified in the case.

Also named in indictments are:

• Jacob Mullins, 33, of 1659 Hwy. 343, McRoberts, who is charged with first- degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use/ possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and public intoxication (controlled substance, excludes alcohol).

Jenkins Police Officer Ryan Turner testified in the case.

• Samuel Dew Johnson, 54, of 102 Road Branch, Pikeville, who is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use/ possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified).

Jenkins Police Officer Hunter Holbrook testified in the case.

• Ashley Mullins, 31, of 2515 Cripple Road, Rockholds, who is charged with first- degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use/ possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and public intoxication (controlled substance, excludes alcohol).

Jenkins Police Officer Ryan Turner testified in the case.

• Christy Stamper, 42, of 183 Chisholm Road, Jeremiah, who is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodone, first offense) and third-degree possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam).

Kentucky State Trooper Josh Richardson testified in the case.

• Benjamin Caudill, 38, of 576 Doty Creek, Jeremiah, who is charged with firstdegree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), buy/possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and public intoxication (controlled substance, excludes alcohol).

Seth Whitaker of the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Office testified in the case.

• Rickie A. Bates, 58, of 125 Collier Drive, Kona, who is charged with theft by unlawful taking of a 1989 Dodge Caravan belonging to Beverly Rollins and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Kentucky State Trooper Jason Bates testified in the case.

• James Edward Nichols, 45, of 850 McCauley Road, Wilmore, who is charged with disregarding traffic control device (traffic light), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol (first offense, enhanceable), first-degree fleeing/ evading police and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Whitesburg Police Officer Jordan Clemons testified in the case.

• Kimberly Cornett, 35, of 126 Orchard Road, Whitesburg, who is charged with second-degree escape and tampering with a prisoner monitor device.

Letcher County Deputy Sheriff Ben Fields testified in the case.

•Trenton Dixon, 21, of 1636 Carcassonne Road, Blackey, who is charged with second-degree escape.

Letcher County Deputy Sheriff Ben Fields testified in the case.

• Brian Paul Broome, 44, of 24 Little Oak Street, Jenkins, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

• Joshua David Machinak, 35, of 43 South Abdoo Street, Neon, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

In a second indictment, Machinak is charged with first-degree bail jumping and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

• Brian Wyatt, 30, of 26109 Guard Shore, Bloxom, Va., who is charged with first-degree bail jumping.

In a second indictment, Wyatt is charged with firstdegree bail jumping.

• Nora Pearl Hall, 38, of 30 Pheasant Drive, Neon, who is charged with firstdegree bail jumping and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

• Meghan Williams, 33, of Mountain Breeze Road, Apt. 345, Jenkins, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping.
