Two Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College faculty members, Robert Gipe and Amy Kreiter, recently took part in the 30th annual Appalachian Writers’ Workshop at Hindman Settlement school. Participants were required to submit a manuscript which was reviewed by workshop officials.

Sessions at the event included novel writing, short story, memoir, children’s writing, nonfiction, poetry, and playwriting.

Kreiter was enrolled in a playwriting seminar taught by Silas House, a nationally acclaimed writer from London. She also sat in on sessions taught by Lee Smith, Robert Morgan and George Ella Lyon.

Gipe attended the novel writing workshop taught by Liza Alther.
