26 students recognized after academic victories




Twenty-six students were recognized at the Letcher County Board of Education meeting for placing at the regional level in the Governor’s Cup.

Mariah Mullins, from Whitesburg Middle School, and Briana Dotson, from Cowan Elementary School, placed in math.

Those who placed in Social Studies are Josh Stephens, from Martha Jane Potter Elementary School, Jordan Whitaker, from CES, and Maegyn Bates, from WMS. Brandon Adams, from Letcher Elementary School, Sam Sergent, from WMS, and Isaac Gover, from CES.

Drew Raleigh, from MJP, placed in both Language Arts and Arts and Humanities. Zach Joseph, from WMS, placed in Language Arts.

Those placing in English Composition are Megan Adams, from Letcher County Central High School, Bridgett Howard, from CES, Emily Blair, from WMS, and Jarrod Stamper, from CES. Caitlin Collier, from MJP, Emilie Spangler, from WMS, Austin Hamilton, from Arlie Boggs Elementary School, and Joey Watts, from LES, placed in Arts and Humanities.

Ashli Sexton, Erica Meade, Andi Fields and Kristen Blair, all from Letcher Middle School, placed in Future Problem Solving.

Letcher Elementary and Middle school students Ashli Sexton, Erica Meade, Andi Fields, Kristen Blair, Brandon Adams, Joey Watts, Chase Smith, Josh Stamper, Alex Fickey and Presley Lloyd placed in Quick Recall.
