LEXINGTON

Kentucky announced Tuesday that sophomore forward A.J. Stewart is seeking a transfer and two other scholarship players will not return to the Wildcats.

Stewart sometimes provided a spark off the bench last year and was a consistent free throw shooter, but he averaged just two points and six minutes a game. Also seeking a transfer is freshman Donald Williams, who didn’t play last year.

Besides those two underclassmen, the university confirmed center Jared Carter will not seek a fifth year of eligibility.

Carter had already gone through Senior Day but was considering asking the NCAA to extend his eligibility due to a shoulder injury that sidelined him most of the 2006-07 season. In 42 career games, he averaged one point and one rebound.
