44 face drug counts



Arraignments are scheduled for July 29 in Letcher Circuit Court for 44 people who are named on felony drug charges in 66 indictments returned by the Letcher Grand Jury.

The indictments are the result of investigations by the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Department and the Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/ Special Investigations East Unit.

Randall Holbrook, 59, 557 Golf Course Lane, Whitesburg, is named in six indictments. In four of the indictments, he is charged with trafficking in the painkiller hydrocodone. In another indictment, he is accused of trafficking in Suboxone (a drug used to fight opiate addiction), trafficking in hydrocodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia. In the sixth indictment, he is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The grand jury charges Ricky A. Gibson, 37, 557 Golf Course Lane, Whitesburg, with cultivation of five or more marijuana plants, possession of the anti-anxiety drug diazepam (sold under the brand name Valium), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance not in its original container, and being a persistent felony offender.

James Davidson, 47, 3398 Pigeon Roost Rd., Ary, is charged in one indictment with trafficking in methadone. In a second indictment, he is accused of trafficking in hydrocodone in the second degree.

The grand jury says Mary R. Morris, 40, 65 Belaire Dr., Jenkins, trafficked in hydrocodone and and the antianxiety drug alprazolam (sold under the brand name Xanax), and trafficked in the controlled substances within 1,000 yards of a school. A second indictment charges her with an additional count of trafficking in hydrocodone.

Two women are charged with trafficking in Suboxone in the second degree. They are: Tammy Fuller, 47, Fuller Lane, Whitesburg, and Brittney Collins, 26, 198 Main St., Whitesburg.

Four men are charged with trafficking in the painkiller oxycodone, which is more potent and carries a stiffer penalty than hydrocodone and with being a persistent felony offender They are: Jeffrey Sexton, 46, 250 Abdoo St., Neon (named in two indictments); Michael Sexton, 38, 9852 Hwy. 7 South, Blackey; Richard ‘Fudd’ Hall, 29, 3615 Hwy. 317, Jackhorn, and Terry C. Cantrell Jr., 55, 48 Burdine Rd., Burdine.

Six others are charged with trafficking in oxycodone. They are: Shylla Douglas, 23, 39 Bicycle Lane, Whitesburg (named in three indictments); John Ballou, 39, 387 Richard Adams Rd., Mayking (named in two indictments); Patricia Slone, also known as Patricia Meade, 42, 669 Morgan Lane, Jackhorn; Mitchell Sanders, 37, 151 Adams St., Jenkins; Jatanna Griffie, 25, Hwy. 588, Blackey, and Patricia Bowling, 55, 9852 Hwy. 7 South, Blackey.

Christopher Whitaker, 32, 119 Caudilltown Rd., Whitesburg, is charged with complicity with Shylla Douglas to trafficking in oxycodone.

Two men are named in indictments charging them with trafficking in hydrocodone and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school. They are: Shane Gross, 25, 229 Gray’s Branch, Jenkins, and Ronnie Taylor, 54, 113 Shoemaker Dr., Whitesburg.

Doyle Wright, 57, 359 Sergent Road, Thornton, is charged with trafficking in hydrocodone and with being a persistent felony offender.

Fifteen are charged with trafficking in hydrocodone . They are: Harold Meade, 70, 2965 Hwy. 317, Jackhorn (named in four indictments); David Joseph Adams, 55, 409 Bartesta Branch, Whitesburg (named in two indictments); Stephen Hall, 45, 3081 Hwy. 317, Jackhorn, (named in two indictments); Edgar Lucas, 70, 1810 Thornton Rd., Thornton (named in two indictments); Claude Meade, 61, 6958 Hwy. 317, Deane (named in two indictments); Gary Don Rose, 58, 7759 Hwy. 119 North, Jenkins (named in two indictments), and Roy Eldridge, 330 Adams Branch Rd., Jeremiah (named in two indictments).

Collins, 23, 91 Airborne Rd., Whitesburg; Deavin Bentley, 32, 3511 Hwy. 160, Premium, and Charlotte Bates, 44, 383 Loves Branch, Whitesburg.

Four men are charged with trafficking in marijuana (eight ounces to less than five pounds) and with traffi cking in marijuana within 1,000 yards of a school. They are: Steve Taylor, 38, 33 Turner Dr., Millstone ( named in three indictments); Mike Taylor (no age or address given); Ronnie Taylor, 54, 113 Shoemaker Dr., Whitesburg, and James “ Worm” Stamper, 20, 27 Crawford Court, Whitesburg.

Charged with trafficking in marijuana ( mlore than eight ounces but less than five pounds) are three people — Claude Eldridge Jr., 52, 2702 Turkey Creek Rd., Linefork; Kevin Keith Mullins, 31, 314 Right Fork 3 Mile Rd., Jenkins, and Jerry ‘Cotton’ Wright, 53, 3 Mile Rd., Dorton. Carolyn Atencio, 54, 1001 Dickens St., Linefork, is charged with complicity with Claude Eldridge Jr. to trafficking in marijuana.

Clarence Yeary, 32, 228 Store Hill Rd., Burdine, is charged with trafficking in a simulated controlled substance. The grand jury says the substance was sold as cocaine but was instead a non-controlled substance. Yeary is also charged with being a persistent felony offender.
