5 sentenced after pleas

A Letcher County man has entered a plea of guilty in Letcher Circuit Court to 21 counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and two counts of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Chad Eric Crouse, 45, of 15 Long Branch, Hallie, was sentenced to 17 years in prison. He also faces a fine of $5,000.

Also pleading guilty in Letcher Circuit Court are:

• Jonathan Charles Ramey, 35, who was charged in four indictments.

For charges of complicity to trafficking in methamphetamine and use/possession of drug paraphernalia, Ramey was sentenced to three years in prison. That sentence will run consecutively with a sentence of two years for charges in another indictment of possession of methamphetamine and wanton endangerment, and concurrently with charges of possession of methamphetamine and use/ possession of drug paraphernalia.

The three-year sentence will also run concurrently with two one-and-half year sentences for two counts of possession of methamphetamine, two counts of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of promoting contraband in two other indictments. Charges of being a persistent felony offender were dismissed.

• Franklin D. Perry, 33, of 39 Mallard Drive, Whitesburg, who was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a controlled substance; having a prescription controlled substance not in its original container and public intoxication (excludes alcohol).

• Randall Keith Jackson, 56, who will serve 30 days in the Letcher County Jail for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Charges of assault, criminal mischief and being a persistent felony offender were dismissed.

• Jeffery Ison, 43, of 1111 Pine Creek, Mayking, who was charged with third-degree burglary and was placed on probation for three years and 10 hours a week of community service. Ison was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution.
