9/11 MEMORIAL







— The Daughters of the American Revolution, Pine Mountain Chapter held a 9/11 10-year anniversary memorial at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church in Whitesburg on Sept. 11. The Revs. Jeff Foster of Jenkins Emmanuel Baptist Church and Jerry Utt of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church led the congregation with Biblical selections and words of remembrance. The Letcher County Central High School choir, directed by Jessica Auvil, sang the National Anthem and ‘America the Beautiful’. A community choir led the congregation in other patriotic songs. They were accompanied by Leigh Blankenbecker on organ and Robert Young on piano. Recognition was given to all Letcher County first responders — the Letcher County fire departments, police units, military personnel and emergency medical technicians.
