Hello everyone – We have had some hot and humid days lately. When it does rain, the humidity doesn’t leave. I’m not complaining because it’s going to cool down soon enough. Time flies the older you get and cold weather arrives quickly.
We saw my cousin Tami Campbell Collins at the grocery store this past week. She spoke to us first and it was great seeing her. She’s been busy working as she’s an EMT for Letcher Ambulance Service. It was good seeing her and we’re still trying to get a Campbell reunion together.
Susan Ware of Lexington spent the weekend in Amelia, Ohio with her daughter and son-in-law, Jaimie and Skylar Mefford. The Mefford family hosted a baby shower for Jaimie and Skylar in Seamen, Ohio. Susie is excited over the upcoming granddaughter.
Mike and I took a drive and went to Pound Lake, Virginia. I hadn’t been there and I will admit I did expect a bigger lake. We found the campground, which looked nice. I am glad I got to go to the lake as it was something I have wanted to do. I also took photos.
Jeff Vice of Flemingsburg and Ben Vice of London stopped by to see John Campbell of Little Cowan. Jeff and Ben were visiting the family place on Kingdom Come. We missed them on this visit but maybe we’ll see them the next time.
Tori and Rusty Akers of Talbot, Tenn., vacationed with their daughters, Ella and Callie. They went to Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. The photos they posted looked like a lot of fun. After reading about Ocean Isle Beach, it sounds like a pleasant place to visit.
Mike and I decided to eat at Dairy Queen for lunch one day. We placed our order and were walking to get drinks and a seat. I thought to myself ‘someone has the table I like’ and I’m looking around for another booth. Then Mike starts talking to someone at that table. I turn around and it’s my brother, John Campbell. He and Dianna Newsome were having lunch at Dairy Queen. We ended up sitting with them. It turned out we had all ordered the same thing for lunch. You never know who you’ll know when you go out in the world.
Ella Caudill and her sisters took a trip to Breaks Interstate Park. They had a wonderful time hiking through the park. Those that went were Ella Caudill, Libby Honeycutt, Helen Roberts, Janet Napier, and Juanita Caudill. The sisters always have a good time together.
I went to take a late nap one afternoon. Buddy (brother’s dog) saw me through the window and he sat outside my window watching the world. He was guarding me. CAT climbed on the bed and stretched out with his back to me. He was guarding me. There’s security in knowing that the animals are there to protect you from something.
Feel Better Wishes are being sent to Janice Wolod, Randy Brown, Edison Banks, and Sonny Caudill.
The quote of the week is attributed to Mary Lou Retton: “Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.”
