Allen Amburgey dies at 61




Allen Amburgey, 61, of Pinetop, died December 30 at Pikeville Medical Center.

A son of the late Lonnie and Hattie Adams Amburgey, he was a brother of the late Charles Amburgey.

He was a truck driver for the road department, and a well known bluegrass musician and teacher.

Surviving are his wife, Christine Madden Amburgey; two sons, Timothy Brian Amburgey and wife Misty, Pinetop, and Lonnie Brent Amburgey and wife Kayla, Leburn; a daughter, Chandra Lou Burke and husband Michael, Virgie; two brothers, William Kay Amburgey and Benjamin Amburgey, both of Pinetop; five sisters, Larua Slone, Leburn; Lottie Jean Amburgey and Anna Levern Cornett, both of Pinetop; Betty Sue Craft, Colson; and Veda Carol Craft, Knoxville, Tenn.; and two grandchildren, Alex Michael Amburgey and Cameron Blake Burke.

Funeral services were held January 3 in Hindman. Burial was in the Amburgey Cemetery at Pinetop.
