Allene Pennell dies at 89




Allene Lockland Adkins Pennell, 89, of Jenkins, died December 18 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pikeville.

Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Evaline Haynes. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Adkins; her second husband, John Pennell; five sisters, Alice Mullins, Alzonia Stomel, Alora Ratliff, Alta Mae Blevins and Alpha Haynes; and four brothers, Alfred Haynes, Albert Haynes, Alvin Haynes and Alfonso Haynes.

Surviving are three daughters, Anita “Mickey” Davidson and husband Phil and Oma Pennell and husband Robert, both of Jenkins, and Patricia Lucas and husband Jerry, of Mooresburg, Tenn.; two sons, Sammy Adkins and wife Lisa, of Jenkins, and Tim Adkins and wife Lois, of Mooresburg, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Kathy, Rich, Trisha, Steven, Robbie, Jason, Jonathan, Angela, Sammy II, Josh, Timothy and Kayla; 19 great-grandchildren and five greatgreat grandchildren; and a sister, Alberta Blevins, of Port Charlotte, Fla.

Funeral services were held December 21 in Jenkins. Burial was in the Jenkins Payne Gap Cemetery.
