Alpha Cress Stewart, 68, of Neon, died December 18 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
A daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Hendrix Cress, she was the mother of the late Christopher Pease.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Haymond.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and talking with her friends. She was a kind, giving and selfless soul, shown by her donating her body to science in order that a learning experience may save a life.
Surviving are two sons, Tommy Joe Pease of Jenkins, and James Pease of McRoberts; seven grandchildren, Christopher Pease, Brandon Pease, Hailey Pease, Colby Joe Pease, Timothy Pease, Lauren Nobel, and Nicholas Noble; six great-grandchildren, Cayson, Acelynn, Kole, Emma, and Corbin Reign; four sisters, Shirley Stacy and husband Calvin of Trenton, Oh., Linda Hall and husband Gaddy of Jack- horn, Jackie Linville and husband Barry of Neon, and Marry Catherine Cress of Dalton, Ga.; and three great-nieces and great-nephews, Sophie Bryda, Nora Jo, Skyler, and Casper, who called her Granny and Nana.
Ms. Stewart was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Pease, and three siblings, Evan Johnson, Joel Cress, and Tommy Cress.
Visitation was held Saturday, December 28, at Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg.
