Anderson was deputy sheriff for many years



Funeral services for former Letcher County Deputy Sheriff Clyde “Poppy” Anderson, 76, were held June 5 in Millstone.

Born in Letcher County to the late Bill and Ethel Anderson, Anderson died June 1 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. The widower of Bonnie Anderson, he was also preceded in death by five brothers, Billy Ray, Noah, Charles, Don, and Douglas.

In addition to his work as a deputy under former Sheriff Ben “Buster” Taylor, he served as a member of the Fleming-Neon Little League and the board of directors at Sky View Park at Haymond, where he enjoyed attending shooting matches.

Surviving are his daughter, Leisha Fouts and husband Rodney of Cromona; his son, Timothy Anderson and wife Carrie of Franklin, Ind.; two grandsons, Jason Collier and wife Lesley of Jenkins, and Benjamin Anderson of Franklin, Ind.; one granddaughter, Dana Johnson and husband Matthew of Jenkins; three great-granddaughters, Jaylee Hope Collier, Alyssa Leigh Collier and Teagan Jo Collier, all of Jenkins; an aunt, Edaree McCall and husband Jimmy McCall; seven sisters, Alice Cvetnich of Jenkins, Jacqueline Stephens and husband Earl of Greenfield, Ind., Glatha Tyler and husband jimmy of Chatsworth, Ga., Charmia Smith and husband Clarence of Dalton, Ga., Melinda Polly and husband James, Tammy Davis and husband Eddie, and Patricia Anderson, all of McRoberts.

Also surviving three brothers, Delmar Anderson and wife Rosemary of Greenfield, Ind.; Randy Anderson of Dalton, Ga., and Ricky Anderson and wife Betty of Jenkins.

Funeral services were held at the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
